President Tokayev Signs Law on Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a new law introducing amendments to several legislative acts related to artificial intelligence and digitalization, the Akorda press service reported.

The legislation consists of two major sections. The first aligns existing legal norms with the newly adopted Law “On Artificial Intelligence,” while the second introduces additional updates aimed at improving regulations in the digital sphere.
One of the key provisions expands the legal circulation of unsecured digital assets across Kazakhstan. Previously, such operations were permitted only within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). With the new amendments, these assets can now be legally traded nationwide.
To strengthen the protection of personal data, the law sets new limits on consent duration. Consent for data processing may now remain valid only for the period required to achieve the stated purpose. Citizens or their legal representatives may withdraw consent at any time by notifying the data owner, operator, or third party.
The law also refines the mechanism for product labeling by introducing mandatory identification scanning for retail operations conducted through cash register systems.
In addition, several amendments tighten requirements in the area of information security, aiming to enhance cybersecurity safeguards.
The full text of the law will be published in official print media.
