President Tokayev Receives Anti-Corruption Agency Chairman Askhat Zhumagali

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Askhat Zhumagali, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency, to discuss ongoing efforts to combat corruption in Kazakhstan, as reported by Akorda's press service.

Zhumagali informed the President about measures taken to prevent offenses involving high-ranking officials. Since 2022, the agency has successfully recovered assets and funds amounting to 1.09 trillion tenge, which were returned to the state and quasi-public sector. Of this, 153.3 billion tenge were allocated to the Education Infrastructure Support Fund, enabling the construction of more than 50 schools, with an additional 30 institutions planned.

The President was also briefed on the agency’s progress in implementing key directives, including the introduction of a “coloring money” project in partnership with the National Bank and Ministry of Finance via the Digital Tenge platform. This initiative aims to enhance transparency in financial transactions.

Further efforts to tackle corruption in the road construction and agricultural sectors were discussed, as well as the monitoring of the “Comfortable School” national project, where corruption risks and inefficient use of funds were identified.

Zhumagali highlighted new digital solutions aimed at eliminating corruption in the education sector, particularly in teachers’ salary funds. These solutions include the automation of budget processes, system integration with educational organizations, and the introduction of biometric verification for payment approvals.

The meeting also covered international cooperation, personnel policies, and legislative processes. President Tokayev issued additional instructions to continue the fight against corruption across the country.
