President Tokayev Participates in Swearing-in of AIFC Court Chairman

Today, in Akorda, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the official oath-taking ceremony of Lord Ian Burnett, the newly appointed Chairman of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) Court.

Accompanied by AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov, Chairman of the AIFC International Arbitration Center Thomas Krümmel, and AIFC Court Registrar Christopher Campbell-Holt, President Tokayev emphasized the pivotal role of the AIFC Court in resolving commercial disputes.

“The Astana International Financial Center serves as a crucial platform for investors, with the AIFC Court standing as an independent judicial body adhering to international standards,” stated President Tokayev. He congratulated Lord Burnett on his appointment, affirming the AIFC’s commitment to principles of integrity, reliability, and trust.

President Tokayev also expressed gratitude to former Court President Lord Jonathan Mance for his dedication to upholding fairness and justice within the AIFC Court.

Following the ceremony, President Tokayev engaged with attendees to discuss the future trajectory of the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Center. Emphasizing their significance as independent institutions driving investment attractiveness, President Tokayev highlighted the importance of integrating international legal best practices and leveraging modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, in dispute resolution.
