President Tokayev Meets QazaqGaz Chairman to Review Energy Sector Progress

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Sanjar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Board of National Company QazaqGaz, to review the country’s gas sector achievements and strategic developments.

It was reported that Kazakhstan’s gasification rate has reached 62.4%, with 1.7 million more people gaining access to natural gas over the past three years. The construction of the Taldykorgan–Usharal pipeline, which will supply 66 villages in Zhetysu region, has been completed.

Key infrastructure projects are underway, including a gas processing plant at the Kashagan field, the second line of the Beineu–Bozoi–Shymkent pipeline, and a $1.35 billion urea plant in cooperation with Turkish investor ESTA.

Zharkeshov highlighted increased transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan and ongoing upgrades on the Central Asia–Center pipeline. Strategic agreements were signed for subsoil use at Akkuduk, Severny-1, and Severny-2, including exploration with CNPC.

Digital transformation in the gas sector was also discussed, including plans to introduce NVIDIA-based supercomputing technologies. Tokayev instructed to ensure thorough preparation for the upcoming heating season and further strengthen Kazakhstan’s gas infrastructure.
