President of Uzbekistan Highlights Historic Railway Agreement

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a video message to participants of a signing ceremony for a key railway agreement, joined by messages from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

Mirziyoyev emphasized the historic significance of this infrastructure project, which aims to enhance economic and transport connectivity across the region.

“This railway will be the shortest land route connecting China with our region. In the future, it will provide access through the promising Trans-Afghan corridor to the substantial markets of South Asia and the Middle East,” Mirziyoyev stated.

He highlighted the project’s economic benefits, including the creation of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs, a significant increase in mutual trade and industrial cooperation, improved investment appeal, and, most importantly, a higher standard of living for the population.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, as per the agreement, will follow the route Kashgar – Torugart – Makmal – Jalalabad – Andijan.

Experts estimate that this railway could transport up to 15 million tons of cargo annually, reducing delivery times by seven days. Additionally, modern transit and logistics infrastructure, including warehouses and terminals, will be established.
