President Meets with Tajik Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who arrived in Astana on an official visit.

During the meeting, President Tokayev highlighted the steady positive development of relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan across various sectors and emphasized the importance of further deepening their strategic partnership.

In this context, he underscored the Treaty on Allied Relations, signed last year, as a milestone in the multifaceted and productive cooperation between Astana and Dushanbe.

“We highly value our friendly relations with Tajikistan, with which we have no unresolved issues. The people of Kazakhstan hold a special regard for the brotherly people of Tajikistan. Our countries have always supported each other, and this is reflected in our commitment to actively developing bilateral ties,” Tokayev stated.

President also acknowledged the significant contribution of Tajikistan’s President, Emomali Rahmon, to strengthening ties between the two nations.

For his part, Minister Muhriddin emphasized that Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have built strong and mutually beneficial relations over the years, based on friendship and alliance in the interests of both nations.

“Tajikistan highly values its close and brotherly ties with Kazakhstan. Your country is an essential partner for us, and we share complete mutual understanding on all aspects of bilateral cooperation. Last year was a landmark for our relations, as we elevated them to the level of an alliance,” the minister said.

The Tajik diplomat also conveyed warm greetings from President Emomali Rahmon to Tokayev and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to enhancing comprehensive cooperation with Kazakhstan.

The discussions also covered the implementation of previous high-level agreements, with a particular focus on deepening collaboration in economy, trade, transit, digitalization, education, and culture.

Additionally, the parties addressed regional security issues, water and energy cooperation, and joint efforts to ensure the sustainable development of Central Asia.
