Potato production in Kazakhstan increased in 2022

The produciton of potato grows in Kazakhstan.

The gross potato harvest in 2022 amounted to 4.1 million tons which is 1.2% more than in 2021 year. Including, agricultural enterprises produced 588 thousand tons of products. Individual entrepreneurs and peasant or farm enterprises – 1.5 million tons, and the share of households last year was 1.9 million tons, Turanews.kz reports citing BasAgro.kz.

Along with the increase in production, the export of potatoes also increased – by 18.5%. So, in January-November last year, 194.8 thousand tons of potatoes were exported, while in 2021 164.3 thousand tons were exported.

In turn, the import numbers of potatoes has decreased by 51.6% in following year; While the volume for imported potatoes were 97.6 thousand tons of potatoes in 2021 year, it was 47.3 thousand tons of products were imported in 2022 year.

Recall that the sown area of potatoes for all categories of farms in 2022 amounted to 198.8 thousand hectares.
