Pistachios to be grown in Turkistan city in coming years, Turanews.kz reports citing Inform.kz.
In Turkistan, new types of trees and shrubs which are resistant to natural disasters and provide shade for people and animals, are being planted. One of them is “pistachio”. According to experts, this plant, found only in the Mediterranean Sea, North-West Africa, East Asian countries, the Caucasus mountains and now it will bear fruits in Turkistan in the coming years.
“Taupiste (pistachios in Kazakh) has been growing for many years on the territory of the Tulkibas branch of the country national natural park “Sairam-Ogem” in the Turkistan region. In the fall of 2021 year, 5 kg of taupiste seeds were collected and stratified as an experiment. Now, the budded seeds were sown in the spring of 2022 by the scientific staff of the “Green Zone” at the “Eski Uzhuduyor” zone. The results are not bad. The productivity of planted taupiste seeds reached to 65 percent. This is a very good indicator for the city of Turkistan city which has a dry microclimate, – says Tolebi Mukhtarovich, a senior researcher of the “Green Zone” communal state institution.
