Pechora-2 BM air defense missile system enters service in Kyrgyzstan

A modernized mobile air defense missile system Pechora-2 BM entered service in Kyrgyzstan. The equipment was purchased from Belarus and will be operated by the Ministry of Defense, Turanews.kz reports citin the press service of the Kyrgyzstan Presidency.

In addition, overhaul of Mi-8 combat helicopters was carried out at foreign defense enterprises; trucks, ambulances, minibuses were purchased.

«Sadyr Japarov got acquainted with the technical characteristics of the new machinery, examined communications equipment, small arms, anti-tank and helicopter ammunition, engineering equipment, sniper rifles, pistols, grenade launchers, rockets and much more. He was also shown the flight capabilities of the Mi-8 combat helicopters,» the statement says.

In his speech, President of Kyrgyz Republic noted the rapidly changing international situation and stressed that the armed conflicts taking place in different regions differ in their scale and consequences.

«In addition to information warfare and propaganda, other methods of armed struggle also prevail. The current situation requires further strengthening of the state policy in the field of ensuring national security,» he said.

Sadyr Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan, known to many countries for its hospitality, builds its military policy on the principles of increasing defense capability, therefore strengthening the Armed Forces to ensure national security is one of the main tasks of the state.

Also he recalled that the purchase of modern weapons and military equipment for military units began in 2021. Last year, the salaries of military personnel were also significantly increased.

The event ended with a solemn passage of the personnel of the units of the Ministry of Defense.
