Passenger Traffic Across the Caspian Sea Increases in Azerbaijan

Last year, the number of passengers transported by ferries of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) increased by 20%.

In 2024, ferries carried 28,392 passengers, which is 20% more than the 23,729 passengers transported in 2023.

Among them, 9,746 passengers traveled on the Kuryk–Alat route, 1,220 on the Turkmenbashi–Alat route, 14,834 on the Alat–Kuryk route, and 2,552 on the Alat–Turkmenbashi route.

For comparison, in 2023, the Kuryk–Alat route served 8,361 passengers, the Turkmenbashi–Alat route 485, the Alat–Kuryk route 13,191, the Alat–Turkmenbashi route 1,393, the Aktau–Alat route 144, and the Alat–Aktau route 155 passengers.

It is worth noting that due to quarantine restrictions, Azerbaijani citizens wishing to leave the country by ferry must first obtain special permission from the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers.
