Palestinian death toll in Gaza by Israeli attacks rises to 29.7 thousand

The International Court of Justice is considering a South African lawsuit accusing Israel of violating the UN Genocide Convention due to military actions in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that the toll from Israeli attacks in the region has neared 29,962 casualties, with over 69,879 individuals injured. Additionally, the International Court of Justice is reviewing a lawsuit from South Africa, accusing Israel of violating the UN Genocide Convention in connection with military actions in Gaza.

Over the past 24 hours, Gaza saw another 86 fatalities and 131 injuries due to Israeli attacks. Challenges persist in rescuing those trapped under rubble, attributed to obstacles posed by Israeli forces.

The conflict escalated when Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023. Subsequently, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords, employing fighter jets and ground operations in response. The ongoing conflict has left Gaza’s 2.3 million residents grappling with shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, compounded by widespread destruction of infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Israel stands at around 1,200 as tensions continue to escalate.
