Over 87,000 Kazakh Tourists Visited Azerbaijan in 2025

Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its position as one of the most visited destinations for Central Asian travellers. According to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, more than 87,800 Kazakh citizens visited the country in January–October 2025,  a 19.4% increase compared to the previous year. Kazakh tourists accounted for 4% of all foreign visitors.

Russia (24.4%), Türkiye (17.4%), Iran (8%), India (6.6%), Saudi Arabia (4.3%) and Georgia (4.2%) topped the list of countries sending the most visitors. Among all travellers, 66.4% were men and 33.6% women.

Most foreigners arrived by air (76.3%), while 22.4% used land or rail routes, and only 1.3% travelled by sea.

In total, 2.17 million foreign nationals from 183 countries visited Azerbaijan in the first ten months of 2025, a slight 1.7% decrease from the previous year.

Kazakhstan remains the leading Central Asian country in terms of arrivals to Azerbaijan. In the same period, the country welcomed visitors from:

  • Kazakhstan 87,804 (+19.4%)
  • Uzbekistan 50,971 (+35.8%)
  • Turkmenistan 26,887 (–1.3%)
  • Kyrgyzstan  9,422 (+37.3%)
  • Tajikistan  8,124 (+80.2%)

In October alone, Kazakhstan ranked 6th among all countries for the number of arrivals (9,677), while Uzbekistan held 10th place (6,481).

Azerbaijan’s Tourism Board also highlighted a strong growth trend: in 2024, tourist arrivals from Central Asia increased by 34.1%, totalling 180,528 visitors. Between 2017 and 2024, Azerbaijan received over 726,000 tourists from the region, with Kazakhstan leading at 331,428 arrivals.
