Over 651 Thousand Services Accessed by Persons with Disabilities via Social Services Portal in 2023

In the year 2023, persons with disabilities availed themselves of more than 651 thousand services through the Social Services Portal, according to information from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, TuraNews.kz reports.

The services accessed include approximately 532.4 thousand technical rehabilitation aids, 8.2 thousand sign language services, 26.4 thousand individual assistants, and 84.5 thousand sessions of sanatorium and resort treatment.

The Social Services Portal facilitates independent choices for persons with disabilities in selecting manufacturers and suppliers of technical equipment and rehabilitation services. Ordering assistance is streamlined through the confirmation of the service recipient’s electronic digital signature. The ordered technical rehabilitation aids can be obtained through either delivery or pickup.

Rehabilitation means provided for persons with disabilities encompass prosthetic and orthopedic devices, hearing aids, typhotechnical and hygienic aids, as well as wheelchairs.

As of now, the portal has registered 872 centers for providing special social services, 542 technical rehabilitation aid providers, over 28 thousand personal assistant service providers, 716 sign language providers, and 104 spa treatment providers.

The implementation of the automated information system, the “Social Services Portal,” is a part of the National Plan for Ensuring the Rights and Improving the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities.

Under the framework of the Social Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the commissions on the portal, established by local executive bodies, have been empowered with new responsibilities. These include accepting and reviewing applications from persons with disabilities regarding low-quality products or services within five days, sending applications to the supplier, monitoring execution, and making decisions to remove a supplier from the portal, listing them as unscrupulous suppliers.

For guidance on using the portal, individuals can seek assistance from the support contact center, reachable through the centralized number 1414.
