Kazakh tennis talents, Amir Omarkhanov and Asylzhan Arystanbekova, showcased their prowess in the Junior Australian Open as they triumphed in the doubles category.
Amir Omarkhanov, partnered with Chanjun Kim from South Korea, advanced to the second round after a convincing victory in their opening match. They outplayed the Spanish-Dutch duo of Izana Valentine and Teisa Bogarda with a scoreline of 6:3, 7:5.
Notably, Omarkhanov and Kim share a familiarity that adds an intriguing element to their collaboration. The duo’s chemistry will be put to the test in the upcoming head-to-head clash for a spot in the Junior Australian Open singles quarterfinals. Amir currently leads in their personal encounters, with a 1:0 record in his favor. In October 2023, at the Wanju tournament in South Korea, Omarkhanov secured a hard-fought victory with a score of 6:7(2), 7:6(3), 6:3.
Meanwhile, Asylzhan Arystanbekova, paired with Yulia Perepikhina from Belarus, also achieved success in the doubles category. The Kazakh-Belarusian duo triumphed over the Australian pair of Reni Aleim and Alanu Sibasic with a commanding score of 6:1, 6:3.
