The President Tokayev has given his official endorsement to Olzhas Bektenov’s nomination for the position of Prime Minister, TuraNews.kz reports citing the press service of Akorda.
“By decree of the Head of State, Olzhas Abayevich Bektenov has been appointed as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, thereby relinquishing his previous position,” reads the text of the decree.
Olzhas Abayevich Bektenov was born in Almaty in 1980 and holds a law degree from the Kazakh State Law Academy (2001).
His professional journey commenced in 2002 as the chief specialist in the Department of Justice of Almaty. Subsequently, he served in various capacities, including as an expert in the Office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Registration Service and Legal Assistance, and head of departments in governmental bodies such as the Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Crime.
Between 2015 and 2022, Bektenov held significant positions, including Head of the Administration of the Akim of Astana and Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan.
Throughout his career, Bektenov has been recognized for his contributions, receiving honors such as the “Aibyn” and “Dank” orders.
