Oldest translation of the Quran published

The Turkic Academy has published the complete transliteration of the Holy Quran, which was first translated into the ancient Turkic language in the 10th century during the Karakhanid era, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of the Academy.

The unique edition includes prefaces by the Academy’s Head, Shain Mustafayev, renowned Turkologist Osman Fikri Sertkaya, and the book’s author, Ekrem Ural.

In the introductory part of the book, Ural discusses other existing translations of the Quran into Turkic languages and compares them in detail.

The main sections of the book contain the transliteration of the ancient translation of the Quran and an index of the frequency of the words used.

It is worth noting that the Turkic Academy previously published a complete facsimile of this manuscript. This unique edition is the oldest and most complete version of the translation of the Quran into the ancient Turkic language that has survived to this day.

The original historical manuscript, known in scientific circles as TIEM 73, is kept in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art in Istanbul.

The publication of this book is a major milestone in the study of the Quran and its translations. It will be of interest to scholars and researchers of Islamic studies, as well as to anyone who is interested in the history of the Turkic peoples.
