Official Sports Program Announced for 2026 Asian Games in Japan
The Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia has officially approved the sports program for the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026, according to Kazakhstan’s Olympic Committee press office.

The event will feature 68 disciplines across 41 sports, with a total of 460 medal sets up for grabs: 217 for men, 204 for women, and 39 in mixed events.
Alongside traditional Olympic sports such as athletics, swimming, football, and tennis, the program includes regionally popular or emerging sports like esports, breakdancing, sepak takraw, wushu, and kabaddi. Other disciplines include boxing, judo, rugby sevens, weightlifting, modern pentathlon, fencing, skateboarding, rowing, sailing, and various combat sports like jiu-jitsu, kurash, and MMA.
Japan will be hosting the Asian Games for the third time, following previous editions in Tokyo (1958) and Hiroshima (1994).
