Nine Children Succumb to Hunger in Gaza Strip Hospitals

Al Jazeera reported that Palestinian authorities, reveals that at least nine children have lost their lives due to hunger within the past 24 hours.

The devastating toll includes seven children who succumbed to malnutrition at Kamal Advan Hospital in the northern region of the enclave. With the hospital facing a dire shortage of fuel for its power generators, several other children remain in critical condition, making it increasingly challenging to provide essential care.

Adding to the grim situation, Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital reported two additional fatalities attributed to dehydration and malnutrition.

The enclave’s health ministry underscores the severity of the crisis, emphasizing that the dire circumstances extend beyond these tragic losses. Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs highlights the alarming statistics, revealing that over 570,000 residents, constituting a quarter of Gaza’s population, teeter on the brink of starvation. Shockingly, every sixth child under the age of two in the northern enclave suffers from acute malnutrition and exhaustion, as per data from the relevant UN directorate.
