New 33-Centimeter Corn Variety Introduced in Uzbekistan

A new variety of sweet corn called “Romeo” has been introduced in Uzbekistan, developed by Ukrainian breeders to meet the needs of local farmers.

According to Kazinform, citing OzA, this new variety produces long kernels and can grow up to 33 centimeters under ideal conditions.

The “Romeo” variety stands out not only for its size but also for its drought resistance, making it well-suited to Uzbekistan’s agricultural conditions. Ukrainian breeders have also developed another drought-resistant variety named “Jamala.” These varieties enable farmers to maintain crop yields sustainably, even with limited water resources, which is particularly crucial in the face of climate change.

Adapted for specific regions in Uzbekistan, drought-resistant varieties like “Romeo” help farmers increase productivity, conserve water, and support sustainable agriculture.
