National WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2024 Championship Kicks Off in Astana
The national WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2024 Championship, a significant event for vocational and technical education, is taking place in Astana from November 14 to 16. This year, 555 contestants from all regions of Kazakhstan are set to showcase their skills across 30 different trades, according to the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan.
In her opening remarks, Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Minister of Education, Natalya Zhumadildayeva, emphasized the global importance of the WorldSkills movement as a key tool for elevating the status of skilled trades.
“Every year, our students achieve remarkable results on the world stage. In September, our national team made history in France, winning six medals of excellence and the ‘Best in Nation’ award. This progress is thanks to the support of our Head of State, with college educational quotas increasing to 145,000 spots, and student stipends doubling in September,” she said.
This year’s championship will feature competitions in a wide range of fields, from bricklaying and auto body repair to primary school teaching, business IT solutions, culinary arts, and hairstyling.
Winners of the “WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2024” championship will join Kazakhstan’s national team to represent the country at the upcoming EuroSkills 2025 in Denmark, scheduled for September 9-13 next year.
