National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Reduces Discount Rate to 9%

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has lowered the discount rate by 200 basis points, bringing it down to 9%. This decision takes effect on May 28, 2024.

According to the National Bank, inflation in Kyrgyzstan is continuing to decline. In May 2024, the annual growth rate of consumer prices was 4.4%, compared to 7.3% in December 2023.

The easing of monetary policy has been made possible due to the consistent slowdown in annual inflation. The central bank expects inflation to remain within the medium-term target range of 5-7% by the end of the year.
