Murat Nurtileu appointed as Kazakhstan’s new Foreign Minister

Kazakhstan President Kasım Jomart Tokayev appointed 47-year-old Murat Nurtileu as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to the statement made by the Presidency of Kazakhstan, President Tokayev signed the decree on the appointment of Nurtileu as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Nurtileu, 47, served as Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Finland and Estonia.

Nurtileu, who was the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for a period, served as the Vice President of the Foreign Policy Center of the Presidential Administration between 2014-2016.

He served as the Vice President of President Tokayev in March 2019, Nurtileu was appointed as the First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan after the “January Events”.

Nurtileu had served as Head of the Presidential Administration since February 2022.
