Mudflows in Issyk-Kul: Homes Flooded, Bridge Destroyed
Heavy rainfall over the weekend caused significant mudflows in the Issyk-Kul region, leading to widespread damage.
According to the Kabar agency, several homes were flooded, and a bridge was destroyed due to the severe weather.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported that four houses were damaged by flooding in the Toguz-Bulak area of Cholpon-Ata city. In the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu, a river overflowed its banks, flooding nine homes. Additional flooding affected one house in the village of Bulan-Sogotu, three houses in the village of Bosteri, and the road leading to the dacha village “Kooperativ Stroitel.”
During the night, rescuers evacuated a family from Baktuu-Dolonotu to ensure their safety.
In total, 16 homes were damaged, and the internal road bridge was destroyed due to the mudflows.
Emergency response teams from the Issyk-Kul District have established an operational headquarters to manage the aftermath. The Ministry of Emergency Situations’ civil defense services are actively working to clear road drainage systems and remove blockages in the rivers.
