More than 3,000 ethnic Kazakhs granted “Qandas” status since Jan

Over 1 million ethnic Kazakhs have returned to Kazakhstan since the Independence of the country.

As of March 1, 3,134 ethnic Kazakh granted the status of “Qandas“. A total of 1 million 110.1 thousand ethnic Kazakhs have returned to Kazakhstan since 1991, Turanews.kz reports citing Ministry of Labor and social protection of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Labor and social protection of the population, since the beginning of the year, half (50.0%) of ethnic Kazakhs who came to the country were from Uzbekistan, 16.3%-from China, 15.9% – from Russia, 8.4%-from Turkmenistan, 4.5% – from Mongolia and 4.9% from other countries.

“Ethnic Kazakhs settled mainly in Almaty (27%), Mangistau (16.6%), Turkestan (7.1%) and Zhambyl (3.6%) regions, as well as Astana (10.5%), Almaty (7. 6%) and Shymkent (6.5%) settled in the cities” said the Ministry

As of February 1 of this year, the number of ethnic Kazakhs of working age is 69.1%, 22.7% are under working age, and 8.2% are pensioners.

Among the working age candidates, 20.1% have higher education, 40.9% have secondary professional education, 35.2% have general secondary education and 3.8% have no education.
