Mirziyoyev proposed to declare February 6 as the Day of Remembrance and Solidarity
The President of Uzbekistan spoke at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara
Uzbekistan will undertake the construction of a number of facilities in the disaster zone in Türkiye. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara.
President of Uzbekistan noted that he was glad to see colleagues at the extraordinary OTS summit.
“On behalf of all colleagues, I express my deep condolences to the courageous Turkish people and to our dear brother, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, dear Recep Tayyip Erdogan. I express my special gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the proposal to hold an extraordinary summit,” Mirziyoyev said.
Mirziyoyev pointed out that today’s meeting showed us the practical confirmation of the strength of friendship and cohesion of the Turkic states, that even in the most difficult moments they are a strong support for each other.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed to declare February 6 a Day of Remembrance and solidarity in memory of the victims of earthquakes.
“As a tribute to the bright memory of all those who died prematurely, I propose to declare February 6 a Day of Remembrance and Solidarity within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States,” he stressed.
Mirziyoyev noted that today Türkiye, under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is taking urgent measures, including implementing extremely important plans and programs to provide housing for the population, build hundreds of thousands of new homes and restore infrastructure.
In such a difficult time, the fraternal Turkish people rallied around the leader of Türkiye and showed great courage, bravery, unwavering will and perseverance, he stressed.
“We are all ready to help you and direct our efforts to the restoration of cities and villages destroyed by the earthquake and the construction of new towns and villages, social and industrial facilities. In particular, we intend to make a worthy contribution to the construction work in the Ovakent district of Hatay province, one of the epicenters of the earthquake, where our rescuers worked,” Mirziyoyev said.
The summit on the topic “Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid” was initiated by Azerbaijan against the backdrop of the consequences of the devastating February earthquakes in Türkiye.
The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States was established in 2009. In November 2021, at the summit in Istanbul, the organization was named the Organization of Turkic States.
The OTS includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary participate as observers.
