Military Helicopter Crashes in Russia

A Russian military Mi-28 helicopter crashed in the Zhizdra district of the Kaluga region, reportedly due to a technical malfunction.

The crash occurred in a deserted area near the village of Klenki in a forested region, according to the regional governor, Vladislav Shapsha, who announced the incident on Thursday, July 25, via his Telegram channel. The head of the Zhizdra district, Alexander Barybin, confirmed the location.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has verified the crash and stated that both crew members aboard the Mi-28 helicopter died in the accident. The helicopter typically has a crew of two.

The Ministry also noted that the crash did not cause any damage on the ground due to its occurrence in an uninhabited area.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a technical malfunction was the cause of the crash. A commission from the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) and rescue services are currently at the crash site conducting further investigations.
