Microsoft Expresses Interest in Acquiring TikTok
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Microsoft is in talks to acquire the American branch of the social network TikTok.
The potential acquisition could alleviate concerns raised by lawmakers regarding TikTok’s ties to the Chinese government, which could allow a foreign power to access user data and influence Americans, News Week reports.
The deal would give the American company control over TikTok, which would not alarm lawmakers who are concerned about ByteDance and want the app to be sold completely.
