Members of “Islamic State” Terrorist Organization Detained in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, authorities have dismantled an underground radical group promoting the ideology of the international terrorist organization "Islamic State."

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS KR) reported that 15 individuals were detained in Bishkek and other regions. During searches of their residences, a significant amount of religious literature was confiscated, which is now undergoing examination.

One of the group’s leaders was recruited online by an “IS” member from Afghanistan and followed instructions to recruit additional supporters.

Preliminary data indicates that the distributed photo and video materials contained calls for terrorist activities, incitement of national, racial, ethnic, and religious discord, and efforts to overthrow the constitutional order by establishing a “caliphate.”

Additionally, training videos on the use of firearms, bladed weapons, and the construction of improvised explosive devices were distributed.

Four detainees have been placed in pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Bishkek. Investigative and operational measures are ongoing to identify other members and accomplices of the group.
