Magnitude 2 Earthquake Strikes Almaty, Felt Across the City
Residents of Almaty experienced a mild earthquake today, with the epicenter located in China.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the seismic stations detected the earthquake at 13:13 on April 12. The epicenter was situated 273 kilometers southeast of Almaty, in China. The department classified it as an aftershock.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, “The earthquake registered 2 points on the MSK-64 scale in Almaty city, indicating its perceptibility.”
