Madonna hospitalized in intensive care with bacterial infection

Madonna, the 63-year-old pop icon, was hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) on Saturday, June 24, 2023, after developing a serious bacterial infection. Her manager, Guy Oseary, confirmed the news in a statement on Instagram, Turanews.kz reports.

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” Oseary wrote. “She is currently recovering well and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.”

The infection is reportedly not related to COVID-19. Madonna’s tour, which was scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, has been postponed.

This is not the first time Madonna has been hospitalized for a bacterial infection. In 2019, she was hospitalized for a sinus infection that led to pneumonia. She was also hospitalized in 2017 for a kidney infection.

Madonna is one of the most successful recording artists of all time, with over 300 million records sold worldwide. She has won seven Grammy Awards and has been nominated for 28. She is also a successful film actress, having starred in films such as “Evita” and “A League of Their Own.”

Her fans are hoping for a speedy recovery.
