“Made in Turan” Initiative Unites Turkic Brands in Kazakhstan

A groundbreaking initiative, "Made in Turan," has emerged in Kazakhstan, bringing together trademarks from across the Turkic world. This landmark move was solidified with the signing of the first Memorandum of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana, aiming to bolster mutual support and cooperation in Central Asia's franchise industry development.

Gulbanu Maigarina, Chairperson of the Central Asian Franchise Association, expressed optimism about the Memorandum’s impact, foreseeing enhanced partnerships, experience exchange, and economic growth within the region.

Timur Zharkenov, Deputy Chair of Kazakhstan’s National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” underscored the resilience of franchising during the pandemic and its role in fostering global business recovery. Notably, Kazakhstan saw a significant uptick in franchise agreements last year, with approximately 3,000 domestic enterprises delving into this domain, signaling a positive trajectory bolstered by supportive legislative frameworks.

Zharkenov emphasized the government’s receptiveness to entrepreneurship and highlighted ongoing efforts to streamline business environments for further development.

Representatives from government bodies, including the Presidential Administration, parliamentary deputies, and the Kazakh Institute of Intellectual Property, echoed a commitment to advancing franchising and investments in the Turkic space to drive economic progress.

The Presidential Administration’s Department of Socio-economic Policy outlined ambitious economic growth targets, emphasizing entrepreneurship as a pivotal driver of achieving these objectives.

A pivotal moment of the gathering was the unveiling of the “Made in Turan” brand logo, symbolizing a new chapter for the Turkic world. Originating from an Azerbaijani proposal, the initiative garnered unanimous support from participants representing six countries, including Hungary, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.

Championed by Jamid Movsumov, Chair of the Azerbaijan Franchise Association, the “Made in Turan” brand embodies historical and cultural ties shared by Turkic peoples. The logo, featuring elements such as the crescent moon and horse, signifies unity and aspirations for a brighter future while celebrating Turkic heritage.

The signing ceremony and the launch of the “Made in Turan” project unfolded during a round table event titled “International Congress of Turkic Franchising Associations: Prospects and opportunities for the development of franchising in the Turkic space.” Organized by the Central Asian Franchise Association in collaboration with Kazakhstan’s National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” the event marked a significant step towards fostering economic cooperation and cultural solidarity among Turkic nations.
