Kyrgyzstan’s President, Sadyr Japarov, delivered a speech at the regular session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Minsk, TuraNews.kz reports citing Kabar.kg.
The meeting included addresses from Presidents Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and the Secretary General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov.
Japarov highlighted the importance of the meeting’s agenda for the organization’s development and deepening cooperation among CSTO member states in maintaining peace and regional security. He acknowledged the complex and contradictory global geopolitical situation and expressed concern for the situation in the Middle East, particularly the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Calling for comprehensive measures to prevent casualties and violence against civilians, Japarov urged an end to hostilities and an immediate commencement of the negotiation process. He advocated for global efforts to peacefully resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the “two states” principle as outlined in resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
The Kyrgyz President also emphasized ongoing attention to the situation in Afghanistan, expressing Kyrgyzstan’s interest in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. He voiced full support for multilateral negotiation processes to address the situation and welcomed efforts by the interim government of Afghanistan to fulfill international obligations. Japarov called for continued humanitarian assistance to prevent further deterioration of the social and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
Highlighting the signing of relevant documents related to peacekeeping activities, Japarov noted updates to the composition and deployment of CSTO peacekeeping forces, facilitating their practical involvement in UN peacekeeping operations.
Japarov expressed Kyrgyzstan’s support for the appointment of Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov of Russia as Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff. He also approved organizational and staffing changes within the CSTO Joint Headquarters, the establishment of a new award, and documents regulating the organization’s financial activities.
