Kyrgyzstan’s National Security Committee Reclaims Gold Mine

The State Committee for National Security (GNKB) of Kyrgyzstan is working to return a valuable gold mine to state control.

Efforts are focused on reclaiming a 196-hectare quarry located in the Chim-Korgon aiyl okmotu of the Kemin district in the Chui region. The market value of this field is estimated at 1 billion 782 million 656 thousand soms.

The GNKB reports that the deposit was developed illegally for geological exploration to find gold-containing ore. Proper permits were not issued, and the land allotment procedure was not followed. Operational and investigative measures are currently underway to bring the deposit back under state control.
