Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry Advises Citizens on Enhanced Border Controls When Entering Russia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has issued a notice advising citizens to prepare for enhanced control procedures when entering Russia, as the newly implemented border control measures apply to all foreign nationals crossing into the Russian Federation.
Based on information from Russian authorities, the Ministry provided specific guidance for Kyrgyz citizens traveling through air checkpoints into Russia. Travelers are advised to have their identification documents ready and ensure they meet all entry requirements, as additional checks may be conducted to verify the legality of their entry, which could take extra time.
The Ministry urged citizens to remain calm and follow the instructions of Russian border officials during these checks. Travelers should also be aware that border authorities may deny entry to those who do not meet requirements, and such individuals will receive a document explaining the reason for refusal.
According to international agreements, individuals denied entry will be placed under the responsibility of their airline and returned to their point of departure, typically within one to three days. During this period, the airline will provide basic necessities such as food and water.
In case of any unusual situations, Kyrgyz citizens are encouraged to seek assistance from consular services. Contact numbers for Russian consulates at Moscow airports are available for those needing support or interpretation assistance.
The heightened security protocols, now enforced for all foreign nationals, aim to bolster safety and counter-terrorism efforts following a recent incident at Crocus City Hall in Russia.
