Kyrgyzstan to Establish Research Institute for Food Security and Nutrition
Kyrgyzstan will create a Research Institute for Food Security and Nutrition, following the instructions of President Sadyr Japarov. The decision was made during a meeting of the Council for Food Security and Nutrition, chaired by Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
Torobaev emphasized that the institute will serve as a center of knowledge and innovation, contributing to the country’s food security. “Today, we will finalize the composition and status of the institute, marking a new stage in developing our agro-industrial policy,” he stated, adding that ensuring access to safe and high-quality food for every Kyrgyz citizen is a collective responsibility.
The new institute will conduct research in agronomy and veterinary science and provide recommendations for improving agricultural production and processing technologies. It will also collaborate with international organizations and scientific institutions to adopt global best practices in food security.
The Council concluded the meeting by outlining recommendations to enhance the country’s self-sufficiency and promote sustainable agricultural development.
