Kyrgyzstan Removes Taliban from List of Banned Organizations

Kyrgyzstan has officially removed the Taliban from its list of banned organizations, following what the country’s Foreign Ministry described as "careful consideration and comprehensive assessment" by relevant state bodies. The decision is aimed at promoting regional stability and fostering dialogue, with Kyrgyzstan reaffirming its commitment to supporting international efforts for a peaceful environment in Afghanistan and the wider region.

Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s move, viewing it as a step towards enhancing Afghanistan’s diplomatic relations. Kabul believes that this decision, along with similar actions by other countries, indicates growing political recognition of the Taliban-led Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan at both regional and international levels. This, they say, will help strengthen Afghanistan’s ties with other nations.

Previously, in late December 2023, Kazakhstan had also removed the Taliban from its list of banned organizations.
