Kyrgyzstan Records Growth in Freight Traffic

Between January and August of this year, Kyrgyzstan's freight volume across all modes of transport reached 32.778 million tons.

According to the National Statistics Committee, cited by Trend agency, this marks an increase of 2.6 million tons, or 8.5%, compared to the same period last year.

In August alone, freight traffic rose by 0.5 million tons, or 11.8%, compared to August of the previous year. However, the volume remained nearly unchanged compared to the previous month.

Of the total freight transported:

  • 27.048 million tons were moved by road;
  • 5.466 million tons by rail;
  • 250,200 tons by pipeline;
  • 12,900 tons by air.

Additionally, the total freight turnover during this period amounted to 1.870 billion ton-kilometers, reflecting a 4.4% increase from January-August of last year.
