Kyrgyzstan Proposes Vehicle Confiscation for Damaging Pastures

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has called on citizens to protect nature and proposed tougher penalties for those who damage mountain slopes and pastures with quad bikes and off-road vehicles.

According to Japarov, incidents of driving in mountainous areas on such vehicles have become more frequent, causing harm to green meadows and pastures.

“People drive quad bikes and off-road vehicles directly onto pastures. Despite the presence of roads, they destroy the greenery. Therefore, I instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the ministries of natural resources, ecology, and technical supervision to consider imposing fines and confiscating the vehicles of such violators,” Japarov wrote.

The President urged travelers to stick to designated roads in the mountains and, once roads end, to continue their journey on foot or horseback.
