Kyrgyzstan Plans to Import Oil from Azerbaijan
Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy has proposed an agreement with Azerbaijan for the supply and processing of crude oil.
This was discussed during a meeting between the Energy Ministers of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shakhbazov, and Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Ibrayev, on the sidelines of the 4th Organization of Turkic States meeting in Bishkek.
Ibrayev highlighted Azerbaijan’s expertise in oil field development and production, suggesting a long-term contract for crude oil supply and processing, as well as cooperation in hydropower and renewable energy projects.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstan requested $2 million in initial funding from the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund to support the installation of electric vehicle charging stations. Shakhbazov expressed willingness to collaborate and proposed forming a special working group to explore oil supply options. He also invited Kyrgyzstan to participate in an upcoming investment forum on renewable energy in Azerbaijan.
