Kyrgyzstan May Ban Unlicensed Psychologists from Advertising Services

Only certified and licensed professionals should be allowed to advertise psychological services in Kyrgyzstan, said MP Ulan Primov during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to Kabar News Agency, Primov raised concerns that individuals who complete short-term psychology courses or attend seminars are offering public consultations without proper credentials.

“This should not be allowed. Only university graduates with official licenses should be able to offer psychological services. After meeting with a psychologist, a person should feel better, not worse,” he stressed.

The MP expressed hope that the proposed amendments to the advertising law will reflect this requirement. The Parliament is currently reviewing the draft law “On Advertising” in its first reading. The initiative comes from MPs M. Mamataliyev, I. Kubanychbekov, Rustambek uulu S., and B. Maripov.
