The Kyrgyz government is taking a decisive step toward food security by launching a pilot project to develop an integrated meat cluster.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet and Minister of Agriculture, Erlist Akunbekov, the initiative will focus on industrial-scale cattle fattening in the Chuy region and the capital city, Bishkek.
To accelerate the project’s success in 2026, the state will provide preferential loans with low-interest rates through “Aiyl Bank” and “Eldik Bank.” This financial support is designed to empower local farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to increase output and maintain market stability. In addition to these structural reforms, Kyrgyzstan continues to hold weekend food fairs to ensure that socially vulnerable groups have access to affordable meat and dairy products during periods of global price volatility.
