Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border truck accumulation improving

The situation with the accumulation of trucks on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan is improving, but there is still a backlog of vehicles, Turanews.kz reports.

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) monitoring group visited the Ak-Tilek road checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakhstan border on August 24. At the time of the visit, the capacity of trucks with the Kazakh side increased from 2-3 vehicles to 8-9 vehicles per hour.

As of August 26, 15:00, there are 355 cars in line to leave Kyrgyzstan for Kazakhstan at the Ak-Tilek-Avtodorozhny checkpoint, 73 cars at the Chaldybar-Avtodorozhny checkpoint, and 77 trucks and 47 cars at the Chon-Kapka-Avtodorozhny checkpoint.

The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic says that there are slight positive shifts in the passage of cargo vehicles, but despite this, there is still an accumulation of cargo vehicles.

The EEC monitoring group is working with the authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to find ways to further improve the situation and ensure the smooth flow of traffic across the border.

The accumulation of trucks on the Kyrgyz-Kazakhstan border has been a problem for several months. The main reason for the backlog is the limited capacity of the checkpoints. The Kyrgyz and Kazakh authorities have been working to increase the capacity of the checkpoints.
