Kyrgyzstan Enhances Legal Protections for Entrepreneurs and Investors

President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan has signed a new law designed to strengthen the protection of entrepreneurs and investors within the country.

New law introduces significant changes to the Criminal Code, the Code of Offenses, and the Code of Criminal Procedure.

One of the key features of the new law is the introduction of a new article in the Criminal Code, which holds officials accountable for using their positions to obstruct legitimate business activities. The penalties for conducting illegal inspections and hindering the work of entrepreneurs by officials have also been increased.

Furthermore, the law mandates that courts must prioritize less severe preventive measures, such as electronic surveillance, bail, or house arrest, when dealing with entrepreneurs and investors.

The law will take effect 10 days after its official publication.
