According to the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, the government had set a price cap on coal in various regions until February 15. During inspections carried out by relevant authorities, more than 800 cases of unjustified price hikes were identified across 560 checks.
Previously, the Kyrgyz government had extended the state regulation of coal prices multiple times. The most recent decree was issued on December 15 last year and remained in effect until February 15 of this year.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan also ended state regulation of fuel prices in February, which is expected to lead to increases in the cost of gasoline, diesel, and liquefied gas.
