Kyrgyzstan Doubles Potato Imports

Between January and October 2024, Kyrgyzstan significantly increased its potato imports, reaching 54,424 tons—2.2 times more than in the same period last year.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the total import value amounted to $7.769 million, a 97% increase compared to January-October 2023.

The primary suppliers were Uzbekistan (44,711 tons worth $4.673 million), Kazakhstan (8,804 tons worth $2.749 million), Russia (884 tons worth $344,000), and Azerbaijan (24 tons worth $3,000).

During this period, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover rose by 6.4%, totaling $13.4 billion. Exports increased by 25.2%, reaching $3.123 billion, while imports grew by 1.8% to $10.310 billion.
