Kyrgyzstan considers the Caspian Sea as an alternative transportation route
Bishkek is considering the Caspian Sea as an alternative route for cargo transportation. This was stated by Akylbek Zhaparov, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on Tuesday at an event in Bishkek, Turanews.kz reports citing Anadolu Agency
“Now the issue of opening a new international multimodal corridor to the Russian Federation through the Caspian Sea is being considered,” Zhaparov said.
According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, the land part of the route will pass from Kyrgyzstan through the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the seaport of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan. Further, it is proposed to transport the goods by sea to the Russian port of Astrakhan.
At the end of his speech, Zhaparov expressed the idea that small countries are becoming increasingly important, and the era of countries rich in natural resources is coming to an end. “Those who can quickly adapt to new challenges and changes are the strongest right now. Under these conditions, the Kyrgyz Republic has a chance to take its place in the world order / world trade, based on the existing advantages,” he said.
