Kyrgyzstan is celebrating its 32nd Independence Day on Wednesday, August 31, Turanews.kz reports.
The holiday commemorates the declaration of independence of the Kyrgyz Republic from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991.
Traditionally, the main Independence Day celebrations are held in Ala-Too Square in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. However, in recent years, the government has decided to hold the main celebrations in different parts of the country in order to promote national unity.
This year, the main Independence Day celebrations will be held in Osh, the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan. Osh is the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan and is located in the Fergana Valley.
The celebrations in Osh will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at Ala-Too Square. This will be followed by a military parade and a concert.
There will also be cultural events and exhibitions throughout the city.
