Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Resolve Border Issue

The Kyrgyz parliament has approved three agreements with Tajikistan regarding border delimitation.

The documents include a border treaty, a road construction and maintenance agreement, and an accord on access to water and energy facilities.

According to Kyrgyz security chief Kamchybek Tashiev, the countries exchanged land: Kyrgyzstan received 190 hectares, while Tajikistan obtained 141.9 hectares. The Vorukh enclave was reduced from 19,000 hectares to 14,500 hectares.

A deal was also reached on neutral roads, and the “Golovnoi” water distribution point was divided, with Kyrgyzstan gaining an additional 750 hectares.
