Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Reach Agreement on Additional 12 Kilometers of Border
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, through their respective topographical working groups, have successfully negotiated an additional 11.88 kilometers of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The news, sourced from the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet highlights.
The latest meeting of topographical working groups from both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, focused on the delimitation and demarcation of their shared state border, took place in Boston from December 17 to 23. During this session, the parties reached an agreement on 11.88 kilometers of the border between the two nations.
The collaborative efforts are set to persist, with plans to further define and describe the remaining areas at the next meeting, which is scheduled to be held within the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. At the conclusion of the meeting, a corresponding protocol was signed, affirming the mutual agreement on the border adjustments.
It is noteworthy that Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan share a common border stretching 970 kilometers. However, certain sections of the contact line, spanning several hundred kilometers, have yet to be determined or marked. The parties continue to engage in meetings held alternately on each other’s territories in the ongoing process of border delineation.
