Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia Strengthen Interparliamentary Ties with Memorandum Signing

The speakers of the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia have signed a memorandum of cooperation, signaling a new chapter in interparliamentary collaboration.

Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiev, and Chairman of the Great State Khural (parliament) of Mongolia, Gombojavin Zandanshatar, formalized the agreement on cooperation between the parliaments of the two nations, as stated by the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament, TuraNews.kz reports citing Khabar Agency.

The memorandum outlines the establishment of a commission for cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh and the State Great Khural of Mongolia, with a focus on enhancing inter-parliamentary ties. It encompasses provisions for collaboration at the level of specialized committees, parliamentary friendship groups, and strengthening engagements on the international stage.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the parliamentary leaders engaged in discussions and exchanged perspectives in an intimate setting, delving into avenues for deepening political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the two countries.

Shakiev highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations in recent years, citing the official visit of the Kyrgyz head to Mongolia and the signing of a declaration of friendship and cooperation as pivotal milestones.

In response, Chairman Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar of the State Great Khural of Mongolia underscored the surge in tourist arrivals following the inauguration of the Bishkek-Ulaanbaatar air route. He also expressed the Mongolian people’s keen interest in visiting Kyrgyzstan, reflecting the mutual desire to foster closer ties and cultural exchanges.
